Aminishiki was the unlikely pacemaker as the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament entered the middle weekend in Tokyo.

The new sekiwake was too much for former ozeki Dejima in Day 6 action at the Ryogoku Kokugikan on Friday, winning to remain one in front of the rest with a perfect record. Seven share second place with 5-1 records. Two are ozeki, but the second-highest rank's numbers were depleted when Kaio withdrew with injury.

Yokozuna Hakuho ensured he stayed in touch with a no-fuss forceout of komusubi Kisenosato. The komusubi had won three of his last four meetings with Hakuho--all by thrustdown--but was screw my husband please

little more than a walkover for the yokozuna in a final bout that Hakuho thought he had won once, before chief judge Mihogaseki called him back to do it again.

Aminishiki had begun the day sharing the lead with No. 10 maegashira Kasugao, but No. 8 Takekaze ended the big South Korean's 15 minutes of fame when he soaked up Kasugao's charge, then turned him toward the bales and shoved him out from behind to leave both on 5-1.

With the road clear, Aminishiki had a chance to claim sole possession of the lead. The new sekiwake made no mistake, following up a lightning quick tachiai against No. 4 maegashira Dejima with a brutal crushdown.

"My tachiai was great," Aminishiki said. "It gave me the chance to get the right-hand grip I wanted and move on from there."

It is Aminishiki's best-ever start, and one he can add to today against No. 1 maegashira Tokitenku (1-5), who was a victim of Chiyotaikai's (5-1) patented backpedaling. The ozeki tenderized Tokitenku's face, then scarpered when the blows started coming back to leave his opponent diving for the bales.

With a certain yokozuna out of the picture, Kotomitsuki probably thought his troubles with Mongolians based at Takasago stable were in remission. The ozeki, who has lost 27 straight to Asashoryu since 2002, obviously didn't count on new sekiwake Asasekiryu (3-3), who surprised him with a right-hand belt grip and, eventually, a forceout.

It leaves Kotomitsuki on 4-2 although he should pick up a fifth win today against No. 3 maegashira Hokutoriki (1-5), who on Friday lost to ozeki Kotooshu.

Kotooshu's wins have been remarkably similar--one-way traffic at the tachiai and a forceout at the bales. If the Bulgarian can keep it up over the next week, he could be challenging for honors for the first bmw 135i

time since he was a sekiwake in 2005.

A meeting of lightweight Mongolians lived up to its billing, komusubi Ama winning a fast-and-furious contest with Kakuryu by forcing out the No. 2 maegashira and taking his legs out too. Ama is now 4-2--one of those losses being ozeki Kaio's only victory before he withdrew on Friday.

The ozeki withdrew after four losses in five days, claiming that a left thigh injury he picked up in Nagoya is still giving him grief.

The ozeki, who has a number of ailments, was looking immobile and unlikely to get any better. Kaio's 17th career withdrawal leaves him needing majority wins in his hometown tournament in Fukuoka in November to remain an ozeki--something he has already done 10 times before in his career.

According to reports, a poor performance will mean retirement. "He told me he will fight in Kyushu knowing that is a possibility," stablemaster Tomozuna was quoted as saying.

Top-ranked maegashira Homasho (3-3) broke a two-day losing streak with a patient forceout of struggling No. 4 Wakanosato (1-5). The younger man got an early left-hand belt grip that dictated the terms of the bout, giving him a strong platform on which to build a solid defense and a position to attack. Although it took a few attempts, he finally forced Wakanosato to the bales, where the 31-year-old finally gave up the fight and stepped out.

In earlier bouts, No. 12 maegashira Kyokutenho stayed in the thick of things with a forceout of No. 15 Hakurozan (2-4), while rookie Goeido also is playing follow-the-leader after he claimed a fifth win at the expense of fellow No. 14 maegashira Kitazakura.

Also impressive was No. 6 maegashira Toyohibiki (4-2), who is making a name for himself with some power sumo that is short on the trimmings but very effective. Friday's victim was winless No. 7 maegashira Tokitsuumi, who got powered over the bales to a sixth loss.

No. 13 maegashira Tochiozan's slump continued with a third consecutive loss--this one to No. 10 Iwakiyama (2-4). It is difficult to see what Tochiozan is doing wrong, but it seems he is losing out at mazda tribute

the tachiai and never really recovering.

In the juryo division, unstoppable Estonian Baruto got his sixth straight win with a textbook thrust out of No. 6 Koryu. Well on the way to a second 15-0 whitewash of the second division (and third title overall), worries remain over how he will fare when the inevitable promotion to the makuuchi division occurs.
